RAAF Richmond, the Royal Australian Air Force Base near Sydney, held its third annual Plane Pull for Law Enforcement Torch Run on 13 October 2012. Twenty teams of twenty people each competed to pull a C-130J weighing more than forty-four tons over a ten meter course in the quickest time to raise money for Special Olympics. While the RAAF Richmond team recorded the quickest time of the day in the qualifying heats (11.68 seconds), the two-time defending champions, the New South Wales Police Force Public Order and Riot Squadron, won in the finals with a time of 12.42 seconds.
