The 445th Airlift Wing, the Air Force Reserve Command unit at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, completed the wing’s final mission with the C-5A Galaxy on 28 September 2011. The aircraft (Air Force serial number 69-0013) received the traditional water cannon salute from a pair of base fire truck crews after landing. The unit, which is transitioning to the C-17, flew the C-5A for six years. Prior to the C-5, the 445th AW was the last unit to fly the C-141 StarLifter transport.
