The first F-35A for the Norwegian Armed Forces was rolled out in ceremonies on 22 September 2015 at the Lockheed Martin facility in Fort Worth, Texas. Among the guest speakers at the event were Norwegian Minister of Defense Ine Eriksen Søreide and US Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Frank Kendall. Work on the F-35 program has provided Norwegian industry with more than $450 million USD in contracts to date, along with opportunities for additional work over the life of the program. This aircraft (Royal Norwegian Air Force serial number 5087) and a second aircraft are scheduled to be delivered later this year. Both F-35As will be based at Luke AFB, Arizona, where they will be used for Norwegian and partner country pilot training.
