US Aircrews from the 37th Airlift Squadron, the C-130J Super Hercules unit at Ramstein AB, Germany, successfully completed the first-ever Joint Precision Air Drop System, or JPADS, airdrop in the US European Command region during the first week of Aviation Detachment Rotation 14-1, a bilateral theater security cooperation event at Powidz AB, Poland, that ran from 14-25 October 2013. JPADS is a precision-guided high-altitude airdrop system. During the airdrop, Polish land forces helped clear and secure the range for the drop, and US personnel provided drop zone control and clearance and recovered the bundle. The bundle, dropped on a training range in northwestern Poland, landed within twenty-five meters of the desired point of impact.
