US Soldiers with the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command board an Air Force C-5A Galaxy on 9 January 2013, at Ramstein AB, Germany. Soldiers with the unit were deploying to Turkey to operate MIM-104 Patriot missile batteries along the Turkish-Syrian border. US and NATO Patriot batteries and personnel deployed to Turkey in early January in support of NATO’s commitment to defending Turkey’s security during civil unrest in Syria that has spilled over the border. The C-5 and crew are assigned to the 68th Airlift Squadron, the US Air Force Reserve Command unit at JB San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.
