Initial operational capability, or IOC, for the two F-22 Raptor air dominance fighter squadrons at JB Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, was declared on 9 November 2012. The IOC announcement came at the end of a three day exercise that demonstrated the units’ ability to deploy in support of theater operations. The twenty Raptors assigned to the base in Honolulu are flown by the Air National Guard’s 199th Fighter Squadron and its active duty Associate unit, the 19th FS. The Hawaii Guard and the active duty Air Force share responsibility for flying and maintaining the F-22s at Hickam.
