To commemorate the retirement of the C-130H Hercules from Royal Australian Air Force service, the last aircraft (RAAF serial A97-005) has received commemorative tail flash. Unveiled 12 November 2012, the art features a sunset motif with the silhouette of a C-130H. The crest logos from 36 Squadron (stallion) and 37 Squadron (winged water carrier) are also included and represent the two operational squadrons that flew the C-130H for the past thirty-four years. Based at RAAF Richmond, near Sydney, the twelve Australian C-130Hs were flown in support of operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and East Timor. These aircraft were also used to evacuate Australian citizens from Cambodia in 1997. The RAAF C-130H fleet will be retired on 30 November.
