A delegation of senior Iraqi Air Force officers visited the US Air Force’s international F-16 pilot training school in Tucson, Arizona, on 30 August 2012 to assess the progress of the first two Iraqi Air Force student trainees. The F-16 schoolhouse is run by the 162nd Fighter Wing, the Arizona Air National Guard unit at the Tucson International Airport. The Iraq Air Force anticipates initial delivery of its Block 52 F-16s in September 2014. Under the current contract between the US and Iraq, the 162nd FW will train a total of twenty-seven Iraqi pilots through roughly 2020. The 162nd FW trains more than seventy international student pilots per year.
