An aircrew from the 439th Airlift Wing, the Air Force Reserve Command C-5 unit at Westover ARB, Massachusetts, flew the wing’s last remaining C-5A (Air Force serial number 68-0211) to the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group, a.k.a. The Boneyard, at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, on 25 September 2012. Nicknamed Miss Piggy, the aircraft had been assigned to Westover for nearly twenty years before it was transferred to the 167th AW at Martinsburg, West Virginia, in 2007. Once this C-5A was identified for retirement in 2011, it was was transferred back to Westover where it sat for nearly a year before its final flight. 68-0211 was the fourteenth C-5 built and had more than 19,000 flight hours.
