The twenty-third C-130J Super Hercules was delivered to the 317th Airlift Group at Dyess AFB, Texas, from the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia, on 13 September 2012. Flying the aircraft (serial number 08-5705) to its new home at the base outside of Abilene was Brig. Gen. Lee K. Levy II, the director of logistics at Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott AFB, Ill. Dyess will eventually receive twenty-eight C-130Js, flown by crews from the 39th and 40th Airlift Squadrons.
