The 301st Fighter Wing was reactivated in 1972 as part of Air Force Reserve Command. The wing, which is based at NAS Fort Worth JRB, Texas, celebrated its fortieth anniversary with a special tail art design on one of its aircraft. The design depicts the three fighters the unit has operated since 1972 — the F-105 Thunderchief, the F-4D Phantom, and the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The anniversary tail was unveiled in ceremonies at the base on 6 July 2012.
