Lightning Over the Eagle Range, an oil painting of an F-35 inflight by legendary aviation artist Keith Ferris was unveiled on 19 September 2011 at the Air Force Association Air & Space Conference held outside Washington, DC. Sponsored by Pratt & Whitney, which makes the F135 engine that powers the F-35, the painting was presented to Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz for the Air Force Art Collection. Lightning Over the Eagle Range is thirty-two inches high by fifty-six inches wide and shows F-35A pilots working the strafing targets on Eagle Range near Hill AFB, Utah. The painting now hangs in Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley’s office.
