The 774th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, filled its ranks recently with almost two dozen C-130Js and a full complement of aircrew and maintenance personnel split between the 146th Airlift Wing, the California Air National Guard unit at Channel Islands ANGB, and the 143rd AW, the Rhode Island ANG unit at Providence. The newly deployed aircrews and maintainers are replaced Guard C-130H units from Alaska and New York, which rotated back to their home bases. In the first month of the deployment, 774th EAS crews flew more than 900 sorties with a 99.9 percent sortie effectiveness rate, completing approximately forty airdrops and delivering more than 3,100 tons of cargo.
