Three C-5M Super Galaxy aircrews from Dover AFB, Delaware, delivered more than 387,000 pounds of cargo from 23-27 March 2011 in support of Operation Odyssey Dawn, the NATO action in Libya. On the first mission, an Air Force Reserve Command crew from the 709th Airlift Squadron flew nonstop from Dover to NAS Sigonella, Italy, with a 160,000 pound payload of BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles to replace the missiles launched from US Navy ships during the early stages of Odyssey Dawn. The missions were fast-turn, with C-5Ms only the on the ground at Dover for roughly five hours for reloading and to switch out crews before returning to Europe. Crews from the active duty 9th AS also flew missions.
