A large-scale formation of twenty-six C-130s took off from Little Rock AFB, Arkansas, on 18 October 2010 to take part in joint operations with the US Army. The C-130 crews flew to Alexandria International Airport in Alexandria, Louisiana, to pick up approximately 1,700 Army paratroopers and several tons of cargo that were later airdropped at the Army's Joint Readiness Center ranges at nearby Fort Polk. The C-130s were joined by five C-17s for a total mass formation of thirty one transport aircraft. Twenty-one of the twenty-six C-130s flown in the exercise are based at Little Rock. The C-130 fleet consisted of a combination of C-130E, H, and J models.
