The US military’s humanitarian relief efforts in flood-ravaged Pakistan continued through August. The US Air Force has been delivering assistance to Pakistan since 31 July, and US Navy relief efforts began shortly after that. The US has responded immediately to Pakistan's call for assistance following the tragic and devastating floods that began 29 July. As of 29 August, crews in US military and civilian aircraft have evacuated 8,822 people and delivered more than 2.58 million pounds of relief supplies. On 29 August alone, US C-130 crews, staging from Afghanistan, delivered 92,400 pounds of food and relief supplies from a central location in Rawalpindi to Sukkur, Jacobabad, Gilgit, Sharea Faisal, and Quetta.
