The first five F-22 Raptors scheduled to be transferred from Holloman AFB, New Mexico, were flown in formation to Tyndall AFB, Florida, on 6 January 2014. These are the first of twenty-four F-22s that will be transferred from Holloman to Tyndall in the first quarter of 2014. The aircraft are now assigned to the active-duty 95th Fighter Squadron, which was reactivated in October 2013. The combat mission of the 95th FS adds to Tyndall’s current role as the home of F-22 pilot training. When all of the Holloman aircraft are transferred, more than fifty F-22s will be assigned to Tyndall, making the base on the Florida panhandle the largest single-base fleet of Raptors.
