An aircrew from the 103rd Airlift Wing, the Connecticut Air National Guard unit at Bradley ANGB in East Granby, carried out the unit’s first locally-generated sortie with one of the unit's newly-assigned C-130H Hercules transports on 19 December 2013. The 103rd AW crew was augmented by members of the New York Air National Guard, and an active-duty Air Force crewmember. The Connecticut Guard’s flying unit, the 118th Airlift Squadron, is still training aircrew members after converting from C-21s. The 103rd AW, known as the Flying Yankees, is expected to receive five additional C-130Hs in 2014.
