US Soldiers assigned to the East Africa Response Force, a Djibouti-based joint team, prepare to board a US C-130 Hercules aircraft on 18 December 2013, 2013, at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, for a flight to South Sudan in support of evacuation operations. The US State Department requested the assistance of US military forces in evacuating personnel from the embassy in Juba, South Sudan, to Nairobi, Kenya, amid political and ethnic violence in South Sudan. The C-130H and crew are deployed from the 302nd Airlift Wing, the Air Force Reserve Command unit at Peterson AFB, Colorado, near Colorado Springs.
