The first of ten sets of new outer wings for Canada’s fleet of CP-140 multimission maritime patrol aircraft was delivered on 28 July 2010. The wings, assembled at the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia, were shipped to IMP Aerospace, an approved P-3 service center in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where they will be installed. Canada operates a fleet of eighteen CP-140 Aurora aircraft that are based on the P-3 Orion. The replacement wings, part of the P-3/CP-140 Mid-Life Upgrade, or MLU, program, extend the structural life of the CP-140 up to 15,000 hours and add an estimated twenty years of operational service. A total of fifty-two MLU kits are on order for six P-3 operators from four nations.
