US Air Force Col. Andrew Croft, commander of the 49th Wing at Holloman AFB, New Mexico, recently completed F-22 transition training at Tyndall AFB, Florida, making him dual qualified as a pilot in both the Raptor and on the other aircraft his wing flies, the MQ-1 Predator unmanned aerial vehicle. The 49th Wing is the only US Air Force unit that flies both a manned fighter and a UAV. Croft has more than 3,100 flying hours in the T-6 Texan II, F-15 Eagle, T-38 Talon, and T-37 Tweet. The Holloman Raptors are scheduled to be transferred to Tyndall by 2014 when the base in Albuquerque is expected to become an F-16 training unit.
