After a transatlantic ferry flight, Royal Air Force Typhoon FGR Mk. 4 pilots from XI(F) Squadron at RAF Coningsby spent the last two weeks of January 2013 for training with their F-22 counterparts at Langley AFB, Virginia, during an exercise called Western Zephyr. The first-ever joint training is designed to test capabilities and tactics of both aircraft and to develop the ability to operate jointly. After Western Zephyr concluded, the RAF aircraft were flown to Nellis AFB, Nevada, to participate in Red Flag 13-3.
