Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 234 (VMGR-234) celebrated the arrival of the first US Marine Corps Reserve KC-130J Super Hercules tanker in ceremonies 18 March 2014 aboard NAS Fort Worth JRB. This KC-130J (Bureau Number 168073) is the first of twelve new aircraft the squadron will receive to replace its current KC-130Ts. Speakers at the event included Lt. Gen. Richard P. Mills, commander, Marine Forces Reserve, US Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas 12), and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price. Lt. Col. Patrick F. Tiernan, the VMGR-234 commanding officer, was the pilot on the ferry flight from the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia, on 17 March. The squadron, known as the Rangers, has operated KC-130s for more than thirty years.
