The arrival of the new flagship for the 90th Fighter Squadron, one of two active duty F-22 Raptor units at JB Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, was heralded by a formation flight with the former flagship on over the base on 8 March 2012. Lt. Col. Joseph Kunkel, the 90th FS commander, piloted the Raptor (Air Force serial number 09-4190) on the delivery flight. During a small ceremony in front of the 90th FS hangar, this new F-22 officially replaced the older Raptor (serial number 05-4090) as the squadron’s standard bearer. SSgt. James Lacina will be the new Raptor’s dedicated crew chief.
